Launching 2027

DESIGNING THE SYSTEM. ENGINEERING THE DETAIL.

BOXBOX approached CALLUM to bring a new perspective to personal care - one informed by automotive design, engineering precision and a deep understanding of how form and function work together.

With the ambition to launch within motorsport, BOXBOX wanted to bring the same considered thinking found in high-performance automotive design to a category more commonly defined by individual products than by the systems they create. The challenge was to translate that mindset into something compact, tactile and intuitive, designed for life in motion.

Drawing on CALLUM’s automotive heritage, the collaboration approached personal care as an integrated system. Form, proportion, material and mechanism were considered in relation to one another, with each component designed to work as part of a greater whole. Refillable modules connect to create a flexible system that adapts to different routines, while precision in the details brings a sense of purpose to every interaction.

Automotive design is a constant negotiation between aesthetics, engineering, performance and practical constraints. Applied to BOXBOX, that discipline informed the balance between capacity and compactness, weight and material presence, mechanical performance and ease of use. The objective was not simply to create a collection of well-designed objects, but to engineer a cohesive experience in which every decision serves the product.

Through iterative design development and engineering, CALLUM worked alongside BOXBOX to refine the relationship between the individual components and the system as a whole. Each iteration tested the balance between the intended design and the realities of everyday use, ensuring that the experience was as considered in the hand as it was in form.

The result brings automotive thinking into a new context: a personal care system shaped by precision, purpose and performance. A collaboration that demonstrates how the principles of automotive design can move beyond the vehicle to elevate the everyday.
